Project Details

This 10,000 square foot services building provides a much-needed support facility for Texas State University’s Round Rock Campus. The facility houses multiple departments including Parking and Mail Services, Environmental Health, Safety and Risk Management, the Office of Distance and Extended Learning, Facilities Maintenance, and the campus University Police Department. The project also includes a purpose-built Emergency Operations Center and a separate hazardous materials storage building.

Thoughtful space planning separates the public-facing functions that serve students from the back-of-house functions used only by staff, improving both wayfinding and operational efficiency. Accordingly, the public-facing entry is clearly expressed on the building’s exterior as a lantern-like tower. The building is sympathetic to the existing campus fabric, with an understated yet thoughtful simplicity appropriate for a metal-clad service structure.

This workhorse, utilitarian building successfully balances complex functional requirements, campus context, aesthetics, and budget to deliver a facility that will serve the growing Texas State University Round Rock Campus for years to come.
