Project Details

A long-time King William District couple commissioned this house with the goals of capitalizing on its location, blending into its historic setting, and providing a home for raising their new baby. Fronting the San Antonio River, the entry doubles as outdoor entertaining space while intimate garden spaces have been carved out of the side yard. The terrace and second level porch take their aesthetic cues from neighbors, along with the masonry, triple-hung windows and metal roof. Internally, the slim house is predominantly single-loaded, allowing for long vistas and graceful circulation routes throughout. The selection of local materials, products, and artisan fabrications sustainably root the house in its setting, resulting in a sense of simultaneously being at the core of the city and within a relaxing oasis.
